Latvia, located in Northern Europe in the Baltic region, is officially known as the Republic of Latvia. Latvia is a member of NATO, World Trade Organization, the United Nations and the European Union. Most of the companies, banks and real estate are now privately owned; however, the state still holds substantial share in a few large enterprises. Diverse industries of the country are agricultural machinery, fertilizers, electrical appliances, food processing, manufacturing of buses, vans, street and railroad cars, synthetic fibers, electronics, pharmaceuticals and textiles. Tourism also contributes towards attracting foreign income. |
